2022 UIL State: Saturday Top Prospect Preview

Jaden Allen, Chantz Johnson, Johntay Cook II, Tre Wisner, Jaden Millner-Jones, Colin Simmons and Dakorien Moore are a few of top prospects on display during the 2022 UIL Football State Championships at AT&T Stadium.

5A Division I: Aledo (13-2) vs. College Station (13-2) - 11:00 am

Aledo continues to reload. This year's group features prospects in every class. 2023 features UTSA OL commit Isaac Sohn (6'4, 270) and Washington State DL commit Ansel Din-Mbuh (6'1, 260)2024 LB Davhon Keys (6'0, 205) already has offers from Baylor, TCU, Texas A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Penn State and more. 2024 ATH Jaden Allen (5'9, 155) has already verbally committed to play his college ball at Texas, where his brother BJ Allen is on the roster. 2026 ATH Kaydon Finley (5'10, 175) is the son of former Texas great Jermichael Finley.

College Station is fortunate to have a trio of senior leaders who are also going to be college stars. 2023 RB Marquise Collins (5'10, 190) missed the season with an injury but he is still committed to Duke. 2023 Wisconsin DB commit AJ Tisdell (5'11, 180) is a football player's football player, and he makes plays in all three phases. 2023 LB Chantz Johnson (6'2, 210) is currently uncommitted but has had a strong senior showing that has helped him secure double-digit offers, including a recent offer from Texas A&M.

6A Division II: DeSoto (13-2) vs. Austin Vandegrift (14-1) - 3:00 pm

The offense runs through 2023 WR Johntay Cook II (6'0, 170). The Texas commit is an electric playmaker with the speed and ball-tracking abilities to dominate completely. 2023 RB Tre Wisner (6'0, 170) and 2024 RB Deondre Riden Jr. (5'10, 170) compliment Cook's playmaking skills. Wisner will join Cook at Texas. On defense, SMU DB commit Jaden Millner-Jones (5'11, 195) is a name that you will hear called over the loudspeaker/airwaves often.

It starts in the trenches for Austin Vandegrift. The best prospect on the team is likely 2024 OT Blake Frazier (6'6, 250), who is the son of former Michigan OL Steve Frazier. Frazier has already earned offers from UTSA, Colorado, Michigan, Texas A&M, Houston, Baylor, Clemson and Duke. 2023 OL Ian Reed (6'6, 310) is rated as a DCTF four-star and is committed to Clemson. SMU DL commit Daemian Wimberley (6'5, 255) has developed into a player who can sometimes take over games.

6A Division I: Duncanville (14-0) vs. Galena Park North Shore (15-0) - 7:00 pm

Duncanville 2024 DE Colin Simmons (6'3, 225) is the weekend's highest-rated prospect. He is a terrorizing pass-rusher who will get to the quarterback early and often. The DCTF five-star boasts offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and many more. 2025 WR Dakorien Moore (5'11, 175) is looking like the next five-star prospect on the Panthers' roster. 2024 RB Caden Durham (5'10, 190) is a workhorse on offense with offers from Alabama, Oklahoma, Houston, TCU, LSU, Michigan State, Texas Tech and more. He boasts the elite speed to be a difference-maker.

North Shore is loaded as usual, but the prospect we are most excited to see on the big stage is 2025 CB Devin Sanchez (6'2, 170). Sanchez is in the running for five-star status and is deservedly in the mix to become the state's top-ranked player in his class. A matchup with Dakorien Moore would be highly entertaining. 2023 WR David Amador II (6'0, 180) has earned the nickname 'Touchdown Dave' for his ability to find the endzone consistently. Amador is committed to UTSA. 2023 CB Jacoby Davis (5'10, 175 and 2023 LB Jayven Anderson (6'1, 210) are couple more names fans should note.
