A week of mystery at the quarterback position appears over for the Texas Longhorns. A source inside the Texas program confirmed the 247Sports report that Lake Travis product Hudson Card is healthy enough to start against UTSA in Week 3, barring any pre-game setbacks. The Longhorns lost starting quarterback Quinn Ewers to a clavicle injury during the first half of the loss to Alabama. Card played hard in relief, but was hobbled for most of the second half with a leg injury. Some thought that his injury would cause Austin High graduate Charles Wright to see his first action in burnt orange, but Card is giving it a go.
UTSA and Texas enter the game at 1-1. The Roadrunners lost in triple overtime to Houston in Week 1 before beating Army in double overtime in Week 2. Texas coasted to a blowout win over Louisiana-Monroe, and nearly upset the top-ranked Crimson Tide in Week 2. Card was 14 of 22 for 158 yards against Alabama. In his career, Card has thrown for 777 yards and five touchdowns to one interception on a 62 percent completion rate.
