Odessa Permian (2-0) at Amarillo Tascosa (2-0)
It’s a battle of unbeatens in the panhandle on Friday night as MOJO comes calling to take on an Amarillo Tascosa squad looking to make it back-to-back wins over the two favorites in the Little SWC.
Permian survived a rain delay and a slow start to take down Waco Midway, 41-20, last week. The Panthers defense forced five turnovers and QB Rodney Hall was sensational throwing for 288 yards and five touchdowns to lead a new and more wide-open offense.
Tascosa’s offense got rolling in a major way Friday night as they stunned favored Midland Legacy in a game played at West Texas A&M. Tascosa ran for 414 yards in the win, rotating a number of capable backs to wear down Legacy. RB/DB Tayden Barnes led the way with three rushing touchdowns and 73 yards and he also forced a fumble on the defensive side of the ball.
It’ll be tough, even at home for Tascosa to get back-to-back wins over good 6A teams, but this Rebels squad could be a classic Ken Plunk team that defies logic and expectations.
