Early Signing Period Central: Texas Tech Red Raiders

A Red Raiders fan's one-stop-shop for the Early Signing Period. TexasFootball.com takes a closer look at Texas Tech's 2022 recruiting class analysis and superlatives.

Three Key Additions

Who were the highest-rated signees or prospects who might come in and make a significant impact?

ATH Maurion Horn (5'11, 175) - Broken Arrow (Okla.): The exciting playmaker from the Tulsa area plays against the highest levels of competition in the Sooner State. He signed with the Red Raiders over offers from Baylor, Texas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The speedy and versatile offensive weapon is a 247Sports Composite four-star.

CB Landon Hullaby (6'0, 185) - Mansfield Timberview: rated as the No. 42 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100 and the No. 6 CB in the state. The one-time Oregon commit is considered as one of the nation's top defensive backs. Hullaby has experience playing safety and cornerback. He was named the 6-5A Division I Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore. His brother is Texas running back Jaden Hullaby.

DE Joseph Adedire (6'3, 250) - Mansfield Summit: Adeddire flipped his commitment from TCU to Tech down the recruiting homestretch. The No. 70 prospect in the DCTF Hot 100. The Red Raiders are getting a defensive lineman who can shut down the run and apply pressure to the quarterback. His versatility will be an asset.

Hometown Hero

What prospect was a fan favorite on social media or a local hero who starred near the campus?

OG Erik Gray (6'2, 270) - Amarillo: Gray is a solid all-around offensive guard prospect who has heavy hands and is a nasty finisher. He runs well and has the type of frame that can add and hold more weight. Gray will become stronger and even more dominant through natural development. Tech also holds a commitment from his Amarillo teammate: 2023 OT Kaden Carr.

Super Sleeper

We pick one prospect on the commit list and break down how he might outplay his ranking in college.

WR Tyler King (5'10, 160) - Alief Taylor: With King, speed is one the best skills he brings to the table, running a 20.74 200-meter dash. Has the ability to stretch the field. King can also be a great asset in the kick return game; he can score if he gets just a tiny crease.
