Southlake Carroll 2022 QB Quinn Ewers (6'3, 205) is the No. 1 rated quarterback prospect nationally and had a strong performance at the Elite 11 camp in Dallas, securing an invitation to the Elite 11 Finals.
"I am just so grateful to receive an invite to L.A.," Ewers said. "It is kind of like a goal of mine to have one of these cards."
Ewers, a one-time Texas commitment, flipped his pledge to Ohio State and he reports that he is all Buckeye and is not in communication with any other programs at this point in the process.
"It's all Ohio State," Ewers said. "They (other programs) kind of stopped calling."
It was a strong combination that led him to Ohio State.
"Relationship," Ewers said when asked what it was about Ryan Day's program. "They are always competing for a national championship. Those are the main things. Relationships and competing for championships."
Ewers helped guide Southlake Carroll to the state title game last season and the Dragons are poised to make another run in 2021.
"For us, the mentality never really changes," Ewers said. "If we go to state, if we win state, if we lose it, or if we don't even make the playoffs. It is always the same (mentality), and that is to go to the state championship."
"I think that is the reason we have eight of them. It is always the same mentality. At the same time, you can't think of last year and I feel like that is always why we go so deep in the playoffs. We always have our goals."
As a junior, Ewers racked up over 2,500 yards and scored 31 touchdowns in eight games.
