Dave Campbell's Texas Football high school insider Matt Stepp takes a look back at the week that was in TXHSFB, including Sweetwater and San Antonio Legacy Hiring and South Oak Cliff getting a transfer from Jayvon Thomas.

San Antonio Legacy Promotes Robert Bruce

In a job that most anticipated would stay in-house, Southwest ISD named Legacy offensive coordinator Robert Bruce as the next head coach at San Antonio Legacy. Bruce replaces John Tarvin who got the fledgling Legacy program off the ground in 2018 and led the Titans to the area playoffs a year ago. Coach Bruce is the brother of current San Antonio Wagner head coach Charles Bruce.

Russell Lucas to Sweetwater

After an incredibly successful thirteen year run at Hamlin, Russell Lucas last Monday was named the next head football coach/athletic director at Sweetwater. Lucas in thirteen seasons posted an impressive 128-43 overall record leading the Pied Pipers including taking Hamlin to the 2A-Division II state title game. Lucas who has only been a head coach at Rotan and Hamlin will try his hand at a larger program in Sweetwater that on paper appears to be primed for a breakout season in 2021 after a district title and area round playoff appearance in 2020.
