Seven Lakes sweated out a two-point victory in its first game of championship bracket play June 12 at the Division I state 7-on-7 championship at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station. After winning their pool the previous day, the Spartans opened the morning with a 34-32 victory against a skilled A&M Consolidated team.

That was by far the Spartans’ closest game, as they dominated their next four opponents on the way to their first 7-on-7 state title. Seven Lakes routed Wichita Falls 26-0 and Hutto 53-6 to reach the semifinals, then pulled away from Manvel 48-26 and Whitehouse 42-25 in the second half.
