Being able to play anywhere in the defensive backfield allows college coaches to bring a player in and develop him to the needs of the team.
Fort Bend Marshall DB Jacobe Chester (6-1, 185), this is the case.
Chester played a big role in the Buffalos 12-1 season, and there's no doubt many college coaches are taking notice.
"Right now, I have offers from Illinois State, Rutgers, Kansas, Houston, Colorado and UNLV. I would say that my top two are Colorado and Houston, especially Colorado," Chester said. "Colorado has a good thing going and rebuilding with the right players. I feel now that the coaches are going to do some big things."
Chester has not yet been to Boulder but said that his father has been to the area and told him how nice it is there. In addition to the six offers in hand, Chester is in talks with Oklahoma, Tulane, Texas, Florida, Notre Dame and Stanford.
That list could grow even larger as colleges see his junior film.
"I talk to a lot of schools and have a lot of interest. I have been sending my season highlights out to a lot of coaches," Chester said. "They like how I have the versatility to play corner or safety. I can come in the box and make plays, and there is not much I cannot do as a defensive back."
In his own evaluation, Chester describes himself as a field general and a film junkie.
