UPDATE: North Texas' game against Louisiana Tech has been rescheduled for Thursday, Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. at Apogee Stadium. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
The Mean Green also have a rescheduled game against UTEP the following week on Dec. 12. Both games were postponed after issues with COVID-19 in the program.
Original story (Nov. 5): North Texas' matchup against Louisiana Tech has been postponed indefinitely after complications from positive COVID-19 cases and contact tracing.
The game was scheduled to take place on Saturday at Apogee Stadium. The Mean Green are hoping to reschedule the game for Dec. 5, when both teams have an off week.
"We are very disappointed to announce the postponement of our game against Louisiana Tech," said UNT athletic director Wren Baker. "However, it is necessary in the interest of the health and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches and staff."
The Louisiana Tech game marks the third game postponed or cancelled this season for the Mean Green. UNT had a game against Houston cancelled earlier in the year. A matchup against UTEP was pushed from Oct. 31 to Nov. 12.
The postponement comes as cases of COVID-19 explode nationally. The United States posted 107,872 new cases on Nov, 4 the highest case day of the entire pandemic. The 14-day trend represents a 51 percent change.
With all the movement, when North Texas takes the field against UAB on Nov. 14, it will have been 28 days in between games. The Mean Green sit at 2-3 and 1-2 in Conference USA play with four scheduled games remaining.
