QB: Sam Ehlinger, Texas (Austin Westlake)
Ehlinger played one of his best games of the year, completing 19-of-27 passes for 348 yards and two scores. He added another 83 yards and a touchdown on the ground in a demolition of Texas Tech in the season finale. Texas finished below expectations, but Ehlinger put together a tremendous junior season.
RB: Xavier Jones, SMU (Spring)
Picking a running back was almost impossible this week, but we gave some extra credit to the bounce-back senior. Jones exploded for 125 yards and two touchdowns on just 18 carries. His scores pushed him past Eric Dickerson on the single-season touchdown list – not bad.
WR: Devin Duvernay, Texas (Sachse)
Duvernay played the best game of his career in his final performance at DKR. The senior caught six passes for 199 yards. The biggest was a 75-yard bomb to tie the game in the second quarter and help pull momentum back in Texas’ direction.
OL: Baylor
Yeah, it was against Kansas, but holding a conference opponent to just one sack and paving the way for an offense to rush for 264 yards on 5.6 yards per carry is unquestionably impressive. Now, the revamped Bears unit has to replicate that performance against Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game next week.
UT: Aston Walter, Rice (Crosby)
Walter saved his best performance for the final game of his collegiate career. The senior rushed 16 times for 149 yards and a touchdown, easily a career high. Walter posted 100-yard games in five of his seven games despite never reaching the mark in his first four seasons
DL: Malcolm Roach, Texas
Roach played a strong game against Texas Tech, posting two tackles for loss, a sack and four total tackles. He also set the edge well and helped hold scrambling Texas Tech QB Jett Duffey to minus-14 rushing yards.
LB: Blaze Alldredge, Rice
Alldredge continues to be one of the most underrated linebackers in the state. The junior posted 14 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in a strong 30-16 loss over UTEP. Alldredge’s performance helped key the Owls third consecutive win to end the season.
DB: Patrick Nelson, SMU
Nelson continued his reign as the most dominant pass rushing defensive back in America. With 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks, Nelson is up to 12 sacks on the season. Heading into the weekend, no other defensive back had more than seven sacks.
UT: Bravvion Roy, Baylor (Spring)
Roy continued his interior destruction for Baylor, racking up four tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack, despite getting pulled early after the Bears went up big. Roy’s effort helped BU hold the Jayhawks to just 280 total yards and 4.2 yards per play.
ST: Braden Mann, Texas A&M (Cy-Fair)
There’s one bright spot in the Aggies’ crushing loss to LSU. Mann was tremendous in Baton Rouge, launching seven punts, averaging more than 50 yards per punt and knocking three inside the 20-yard line.
