Dallas Skyline ATH Velton Gardner (5'9, 170) announced his commitment to Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon.

Gardner's commitment to the Red Raiders comes just days after he announced that he was decommitting from Colorado.

Running point for the Red Raiders in Gardner's recruitment is former DISD head coach Emmett Jones. The Texas Tech WR coach is considered to be one of the top recruiting assistants in the state.

Gardner plays quarterback at Skyline, but will most likely be a slot-style back in Lubbock.

Gardner was named the Next Level Athlete RB MVP at the Top 100 Showcase in Dallas back in January.

Gardner's best attribute is his speed.

"He's lightning in a bottle," Next Level Athlete's scouting report reads on Gardner's skill set.

Gardner was named the District 9-6A Offensive MVP as a junior. He was named the District 9-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore. So far in 2018, Gardner has racked up over 2,800 yards and scored 33 touchdowns.
