Texas Tech QB Alan Bowman will not return against No. 12 West Virginia

The star freshman quarterback will not return after suffering a torso injury in the second quarter.

LUBBOCK -- Texas Tech freshman quarterback Alan Bowman will miss the second half against West Virginia with an injury, according to multiple reports.

Bowman was sandwiched in between two West Virginia defenders late in the first half against the Mountaineers. He walked off to the sideline, but went back to the locker room for more tests.

In his place, third-string quarterback and former Mr. Texas Football winner Jett Duffey was inserted into the game. Duffey threw an interception on his fourth play. Opening day starter McLane Carter has still not returned to action after suffering an ankle injury in the opener against Ole Miss.

Bowman completed 9-of-20 passes for 123 yards, a touchdown and an interception before leaving the game in the second quarter. The Red Raiders mustered just 181 yards against West Virginia’s stout defensive front. West Virginia quarterback Will Grier has 278 yards and three touchdowns through just two quarters.

No. 25 Texas Tech trails No. 12 West Virginia 35-10 at the half in Lubbock. The second half will start shortly on ESPN2.
